Professional Translations in European Languages
Europe is characterised by exceptional linguistic and cultural diversity. Companies, public institutions and private clients communicate across borders every day and require translations that are accurate, natural and appropriate for the relevant country.
SATZGEWINN® works with academically qualified native-language translators throughout Europe. For every project, we select a specialist according to the required language combination, subject area and intended target market.
European Language Diversity
European languages belong to several different language families. German, English, Dutch and the Scandinavian languages are Germanic languages, while French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese belong to the Romance language family.
Polish, Czech, Slovak, Croatian and Bulgarian belong to the Slavic language group. Hungarian, Finnish and Estonian have different linguistic origins and structures.
These differences affect grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary and style. Professional translators must understand both the source and target languages in depth.

English Translations
English is one of the most frequently used languages in international business, science, technology and culture.
The intended target country must be considered carefully. British and American English differ in spelling, vocabulary, punctuation and certain stylistic conventions. Canadian and Australian English have additional regional characteristics.
We select translators who are familiar with the relevant national variety and the specialist field concerned.
French Translations
French is used in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada and numerous other countries. Regional terminology and stylistic conventions may vary considerably.
Our French translators work with legal documents, technical texts, marketing content, business communication and official certificates.
The target country and intended audience are clarified before translation begins.
Spanish Translations
Spanish is spoken in Spain and throughout large parts of Central and South America. Vocabulary, forms of address and idiomatic usage differ between countries and regions.
A text intended for Spain may therefore require a different approach from content for Mexico, Argentina or another Latin American market.
We select native-language specialists familiar with the appropriate regional variety.
Italian and Portuguese Translations
Italian translations are frequently required for business, tourism, fashion, culture, technology and legal matters.
Portuguese must be adapted according to whether the intended audience is located in Portugal, Brazil or another Portuguese-speaking country. European and Brazilian Portuguese differ in vocabulary, spelling and usage.
Dutch and Scandinavian Languages
Our translators work with Dutch as used in the Netherlands and, where required, with the linguistic conventions used in Belgium.
We also provide professional translations in Danish, Swedish, Finnish and additional Scandinavian or Nordic languages upon request.
These language combinations may require particularly careful translator selection because fewer specialists are available for certain subject areas.
Polish, Czech and Slovak Translations
Germany maintains close economic and cultural relationships with Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Translations are therefore frequently required for contracts, technical documentation, employee communication and official documents.
Our translators combine native-language expertise with knowledge of the relevant business, legal or technical terminology.
South-Eastern European Languages
SATZGEWINN® also arranges translations in languages such as Bosnian, Croatian and Bulgarian.
Language variants and regional conventions are considered carefully. We select a suitable native-language specialist according to the target country and intended use of the document.
Hungarian, Finnish and Estonian
Hungarian, Finnish and Estonian belong to the Uralic language family and differ significantly in structure from Germanic, Romance and Slavic languages.
Their grammar and word formation require experienced translators with an excellent command of both languages and appropriate specialist knowledge.
Specialist Translations in European Languages
Professional translations require more than linguistic competence. The translator must also understand the subject and use the terminology expected by professionals in the target market.

Translation According to the Native-Language Principle
Our translators generally translate into their respective native languages. This enables them to produce texts that sound natural and comply with the linguistic conventions of the target country.
A native speaker recognises subtle differences in meaning, style and tone. This is particularly important for legal, technical, medical and marketing content.
Direct European Language Combinations
German does not always have to be the source or target language. We can also arrange direct translations between two other European languages.
Examples include English into French, Italian into German, Spanish into Portuguese or Polish into English.
Availability depends on the language combination, specialist field, size of the project and requested delivery date.
Certified Translations
Private clients frequently require certified translations of certificates, court decisions, qualifications and other official documents.
SATZGEWINN® provides certified translations for private clients particularly in English, German, French and Spanish. Other European languages may be arranged depending on the availability of an appropriately authorised translator.
For companies and institutions, numerous additional language combinations are available upon request.

Translations for Companies
European companies require multilingual communication for websites, product information, technical documentation, contracts, marketing materials and employee information.
For recurring or extensive projects, translation-memory systems and client-specific terminology databases can help ensure consistent wording.
Translations for Private Clients
Private clients can send documents as clear scans or sharp photographs. We review the files and prepare a transparent, non-binding quotation.
You do not need to visit our office in person. Completed certified translations are sent to you by post.
Confidentiality and Quality Control
All documents and project information are handled confidentially. Our translators and editors are bound by professional confidentiality.
Before delivery, each translation is checked for accuracy, completeness, terminology, grammar, style and formatting.
If required, we are also happy to sign a confidentiality agreement or non-disclosure agreement.
