Professional Translations in 38 Languages

International communication requires more than simply replacing words in one language with words in another. Every translation must take account of the target country, intended audience, specialist field and cultural context.

SATZGEWINN® works with an international network of academically qualified translators. This enables us to provide professional translations in 38 languages and more than 1,400 language combinations.

Which Language Combination Do You Need?

Do you require a German-English translator with marketing expertise for the international launch of your website? A Chinese native speaker specialising in IT for software localisation? Or a court-authorised French-German translator for an official document?

For every project, we consider both the required language combination and the relevant subject area. This enables us to select a translator who understands the content and communicates naturally in the target language.

Native-Language Translators

Professional translators generally translate into their respective native languages. This is known as the native-language principle.

A native speaker possesses an intuitive understanding of grammar, style, idiomatic expressions and cultural associations. This helps ensure that the translation reads naturally and is appropriate for its intended audience.

Many of our translators live and work in the country in which their target language is spoken. They therefore remain familiar with current usage, terminology and cultural developments.

Specialist Knowledge for Every Language

Excellent language skills alone are not sufficient for demanding specialist translations. A translator working on a medical report requires different expertise from one processing a technical manual, legal contract or advertising campaign.

We select translators according to the required combination of language and specialist knowledge.

✓ Law and certified translations
✓ Technology and engineering
✓ IT and telecommunications
✓ Medicine and medical technology
✓ Pharmaceuticals and chemistry
✓ Business and finance
✓ Marketing, advertising and PR
✓ Science and research
✓ Tourism and culture
✓ E-commerce and software

Direct Language Combinations

German does not always have to be the source or target language. SATZGEWINN® can also arrange direct translations between two other languages.

Examples include English into French, Spanish into Portuguese or Chinese into English. Direct translation avoids an unnecessary intermediate version and reduces the risk of information being altered.

The availability and price depend on the specific language combination, subject area and requested delivery date.

Regional Language Varieties

Some languages are used in several countries but differ in spelling, vocabulary, terminology or style.

English content may need to be adapted for the United Kingdom, United States, Canada or Australia. French used in France differs in certain respects from French used in Canada, Belgium or Switzerland.

Spanish likewise varies between Spain and the different countries of Latin America. Portuguese must be adapted according to whether the intended audience is located in Portugal or Brazil.

We therefore ask not only for the target language but also for the intended target country.

Chinese Language Varieties

The term “Chinese” covers several spoken language varieties. Mandarin is the most widely used, while Cantonese and other regional varieties may be required for particular audiences.

The written form must also be specified. Simplified Chinese characters are generally used in mainland China, while traditional characters are commonly used in Taiwan and Hong Kong.

We select a translator familiar with the target region and the required written and spoken variety.

Arabic Language Varieties

Arabic is spoken in many countries and includes numerous regional varieties. Modern Standard Arabic is frequently used for formal written communication, while local varieties influence vocabulary and style.

The target country and intended audience are therefore important when planning an Arabic translation.

Certified Translations

Private clients frequently require certified translations of certificates, diplomas, court decisions and other official documents.

SATZGEWINN® provides certified translations for private clients particularly in English, German, French and Spanish. Additional languages may be arranged depending on the availability of an appropriately authorised translator.

For companies and institutions, numerous further language combinations are available upon request.

You can find more information on our page about certified translations.

Translations for Companies

Companies rely on us for multilingual websites, technical documentation, contracts, marketing materials, product descriptions, employee communication and many other forms of international content.

For long-term projects, we can work with translation-memory systems, terminology databases and client-specific style guides to ensure consistency across languages and documents.

Translations for Private Clients

Private clients can send their documents as clear scans or sharp photographs. We review the files and prepare an individual quotation.

You do not need to visit our office in person. Certified translations are sent to you by post after completion.

Confidentiality

All documents and project information are treated confidentially. Our translators and editors are bound by professional confidentiality.

If required, we are also happy to sign your confidentiality agreement or non-disclosure agreement.

What Does a Translation Cost?

Less frequently requested language combinations may cost more because fewer appropriately qualified specialists are available.
